Back in May Kurtis moved up to the Bay Area for work. I visited him last month because first, I missed him, and second, I needed a break from work. I was up there for ten days and let me tell you, it was a little hard at first realizing that I didn't have anything that I had to do. I wasn't stressed for time, adhering to schedules or what someone else wanted, and I definitely enjoyed it.
While I was up there, Kurtis and I got to do a little exploring. We had to pack our adventures into only a couple days since Kurtis couldn't really take any time off work other than two days, but we made it work and still had a good time.
One of the things we got to do was visit the Redwoods. Nature's cool, I tell ya. I used to love going on hikes and exploring forests growing up. For those of you that don't know, I wrote stories ALL THE TIME growing up. Writing has been one of my passions my whole life and the majority of my stories had forest scenes. I was so intrigued by forests as a kid--I felt they carried a lot of mystery and wonder about them--and even to this day I have such a tie to them (although still a total beach girl at heart). Walking around the Redwoods was interesting because I felt like a 6 year old girl again thinking of all of my stories and some of the parts that took place in forests. It was kind of fun for me!
