Hey everyone! I don't know how many times I have to apologize for taking breaks from writing posts, and I thank all of you that are still so patient with me and continue to read! I've been very busy lately trying to acquire a job (and now I have THREE) and trying to get into the groove of them and being back in California. I've also taken a step back so I can re-brand a little.
For those of you who don't know, I have been shooting all my photos up until this post using my iPhone 7+. At the time of launching my blog a little over a year ago up until only recently, I couldn't afford a real camera of any caliber. About 3 weeks ago though, I had finally saved up enough money to buy a decent quality camera that other blogger friends of mine also use, but was able to get a whole kit (off Amazon) that included two lenses, memory cards, a case, tripod, and a few other things, for the price of the camera itself.
I cannot express to you how good it felt and continues to feel knowing I worked so hard for something I wanted and have finally been able to get it.
I mentioned on my Instagram stories just last night all about my struggle to find a job and how I let it affect me deeply. I got so depressed (I suffer from depression and not finding a job only made it worse) and literally just went into a downward spiral of just tons of unhappiness spending days crying. It was after I had a final breaking point where I lost my marbles (Kurtis will tell you it's the craziest he's ever seen me), I decided enough was enough and enrolled in an online program to get my TEFL certification so I could teach. Basically this certification goes hand-in-hand with my Bachelor's degree and is what allows me to teach English as a second language. I'm not sure why I pushed it off for so long when the whole reason I went to school and got the degree I did was so I could get my certification and start teaching ASAP.
The certification program is supposed to take 3 months to complete. I did it in FOUR DAYS. If you truly want something, you will make it happen; especially if you know without a doubt it'll improve your life and make you happier. I tend to get in my own way sometimes for reasons I still don't know and will prevent myself from achieving something I want, need, etc., for whatever reason.
So, after getting my certification I went onto Indeed and just added it to my online resume for when I would start applying to teaching jobs. This was at about 8 at night that I received my certification and added it to my online resume, and the next morning when I woke up, I had an email from an English language school that had found my resume THE NIGHT BEFORE RIGHT AFTER I ADDED THE CERTIFICATION TO IT and had asked me to come in to interview for a teaching position. A few days later, I went in, DIDN'T EVEN INTERVIEW, and I got the job. I showed up and they immediately just started added me to their program, schedule, etc. God blesses those who help themselves. This I know to be true.
Now that I've shared with you my recent struggles and accomplishments, one more fun announcement: KURTIS AND I ARE GOING TO HAWAII IN MAY. Another example of how hard work pays off. Kurtis and I have been wanting to go to Hawaii for a long time and one morning the other day I woke up to an email notification that flights were $197 ROUNDTRIP (normally they're like $500-600). I seriously spontaneously booked them. Kurtis was in shock because I am not the spontaneous type, but I texted him the confirmation number and he is excited. So am I. This is seriously a dream come true for the both of us.
Okay, I know this has been a long post, but I felt like I owed it to you all an explanation of my recent life goings-on.
